Introduction
Section titled “Introduction”Exploring the Gospel of John is the fruit of my MTh research and years of teaching a seminar on John’s Gospel to pastors, missionaries, and church leaders across Asia. Their insights and questions have helped shape this book into a resource that combines scholarship, pastoral reflection, and practical guidance.
This book will help you encounter John’s Gospel with fresh clarity and depth. You will gain a clearer understanding of how John presents Jesus: His identity, mission, and signs—and discover the rich themes that run throughout the Gospel. Along the way, you will learn to read the Gospel more attentively, notice patterns that illuminate the text, and grow in confidence as you teach or share the Gospel with others. Above all, I hope it renews your sense of wonder as you behold the glory of Christ.
This journey through John’s Gospel unfolds in three parts. We begin with the background that frames the entire narrative. We then move into John 1–12, the Book of Signs, where Jesus reveals His identity through His works. Finally, we enter John 13–21, the Book of Glory, where the Gospel reaches its climactic revelation.
As you begin this journey, be encouraged. You are in the right place. Whether you come with long experience or fresh curiosity, this book will guide you to see Jesus more clearly and to trust Him more fully. This journey through John’s Gospel may well change the way you read it.
